Spicy Web Designer Interview with Andrea Banchini

Andrea Banchini is a web designer from Faenza (RA), Italy who has been designing websites for the past 7 years. Originally he studied to become an electronic technical but his first love was always drawing and designing so he decided to do some course work to become an illustrator and a designer and after 7 years his passion speaks for itself. When he isn’t knee-deep in the web he likes doing judo, drinking mojitos and making love (and amazing websites).

1. How did you first become involved with designing websites?

I started designing websites in 2001 for a small company. At the beginning I designed graphic and visual layouts and then I was involved also in the coding. But I prefer more and I give my best working on the design part of every project. :)

2. What is your educational background in? And where did you go to college/university?

I have studied as electronic technician, but since I was a child my world and my passions were play with colors and drawing a lot, so after the diploma I decided to go on with some courses to become illustrator and designer for print and multimedia products.

3. How long have you been designing websites professionally?

I have 7 years of designing experience as employee and about 2 years also like freelance

4. What inspires you to design websites the way that you do?

I think that every person has their style and I have mine too. But at the same time it’s very important and difficult create every time something that’s new. So I like looking around on the web to find inspiration and ideas without repeating them, searching to create particular and interesting designs.

5. What do you want clients to know about you and what you stand for in your web design business?

I like to explain that I’m graphic designer that I can give a service of my experience and that is the important thing is to hit the fixed target, also involving others freelance where my knowledge is limited.

6. How do you price your web design skills? How do you deal with clients that do not want to pay extra for your services?

The price depends about the importance and length of time on the project. In general I work for how much I earn, and if someone doesn’t want to pay extra, not a problem, there are a lot of other professional people in the world! :)

7. What do you like to do for fun when you aren’t designing websites?

Sleep a lot, looking around, painting, listening good music, I love chocolate, stay with my girlfriend and friends, do strong judo, drink wine and eat Italian food, make love, design logos, photography, drawing sketches, run, thinking, reading good books, no TV, more web… DESIGN is not a JOB, DESIGN is a LIFESTYLE… :)
